Screen printed illustration by Artist Amy Clarke. Hand signed and numbered by artist.
Amesea is the working name of artist Amy Clarke. She creates detailed drawings using Rotring pen and fine liner in a distinctive monochrome style, often utilising dot work to convey details. Amy produces limited edition screen prints of these works by hand.
Drawing on personal experience, she constructs visual metaphors to explore themes of mental health and self- care. Some pieces were created to work through difficult emotions, whereas others serve as reminders to be kind to ourselves in times of need. Her work explores how it feels to be human today; projecting a wide commentary on the human condition. From little jokes to heartbreak and loneliness, much of her work surrounds the importance of self-care and mental health wellbeing with a feminist twist.
Having graduated in Printed Textile Design from the University of Brighton in 2015, Amy moved to Brussels, Belgium where she lived and worked until 2019. It was during this time that she began creating amesea. Missing the physicality of the print room she set up a simple screen-printing studio in her Brussels flat and printed her first collection there. After relocating to the UK, she has moved into a local printmaking studio in Cambridge.
